COOGAN & LALOR marriage and births

Hi All

I am looking for information on John COOGAN and Sarah LALOR.
I have been told they married in Raheen, Co Laoise in 1879.
John was born in 1845 in Castletown, his father was James Coogan, his mother Margaret FITZPATRICK.
Sarah was born in 1855 in Raheen, her father either Patrick or Thomas LALOR, her mother either Mary FIZTPATRICK OR Mary DUNNE.

They had the following children - all born in Rosskelton

Matthew
Sarah

Patrick
Denis 1 Jun 1887

Can anyone give me more information, especially on Sarah Lalor and her parents. Any information is very much appreciated.

The marriage certificate should list Sarah's father's name and occupation as well as her residence (townland) at the time of the marriage.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks for your comment. I wondered if they had marriage certificates in the 1870's. I did phone the Priest some years ago but unfortunately he wasn't interested in helping.

I will send away for a marriage certificate - I guess to Dublin?

Civil registration of Catholic marriages started in 1864 (from 1845 for other marriages). See Introduction to Irish Records for links on ordering certificates from GRO, Roscommon-

An Ancestry.com tree has Sarah's parents as "Patrick Lalor and Mary Fitxpatrick". The new cheiftain of the Lalor Clan, Margot Coogan, states in yher Christmas message that she is descended from Joseph Coogam whose mother was Sarah Lalor, who was descended from the Lalors of Tenakill. It sounds like the same family.
