I'm not sure if this will be of any use to you, but the Cleveland FHS have a publication called; "1871 Norfolk Immigrants to Cleveland" available for purchase, see link: http://www.clevelandfhs.org.uk/other%20publications.rtf.

I'm not sure what it contains, I presume it is a list of known Norfolk migrants to the area, but as I too have Norfolk ancestors from Swaffham (GOTTS), who moved to the area in 1871 I'll probably be buying this at some point in the near future. Hopefully it may contain a bit of history about the migrations too.

Hi

I realise this is an old thread, but hope you see this! I have recently started on my family tree, and have traced my great grandmother to:
10, Dobsons Cottages, Kirk Leatham   in the 1881 census!

Her name was Jane Loy, and she lived with her brother, his sister (Mary LOUGHREN) and two children. The three adults were born in Ireland. Jane was about 20-21.
She married Frank McElhatton in 1883 in Durham, later moving to Middlesbrough.
I know little else about her, but she did have 6 children, and my grandmother, Agnes, was the youngest.

Just another little bit of history to add to the bigger picture.

Kind regards.
