Hi,

Please can someone advise me as to how to obtain the details contained within the parish registers for Fincley Middlesex around the 1800's.

Kind regards,

Hi Karenlee,

That would be very kind of you.  I have managed to trace the Matthews branch of my family tree to several generations living in Finchley.  I have not been able to get further back than a John Matthews (married to an Ann) in the 1841 Census.  He was born abt 1802 (in Finchley).

They had children named Sarah, Emma, John, Charles, Lucy and James.

If you able to find the birth and marriage information for John Matthews (born abt 1802) in the parish records that be very useful.

Please can you let me know where the St Mary's parish records can be viewed?

Thank you for your help.

Best wishes,
Mark

Emma daughter of John and Ann MATTHEWS of Whetstone? born23rd May 1830 and baptised 13th June 1830. Father's occupation labourer.

John son of John and Ann MATTHEWS of Whetstone born 8th Nov 1834 and baptised 7th Dec 1834. Father's occupation labourer.

Hi Mark,
1841 census there is a Daughter Ruth aged 9 also;
HO107/438/5/Chipping Barnet
1851 Census she is a Servant in Elstree, Herts and 1861 at home with Father John and siblings.
1861 Census John says he is born Hampshire!
RG9/790/20/37
( Just posting this as a Tree on Ancestry does not have the 1861 and maybe its yours?)

If a Marriage cant be found in the Parish Records I think a Birth Cert of Lucy or James is needed to confirm Anns maiden name.
It will be then easier to find the Marriage.

Trish :)
