« on: Wednesday 22 September 10 15:23 BST (UK) »
I know the soldiers Name, number and regiment, also when he was discharged and that he was awarded a SWB (SWB List T G /118) where can I find more information regarding his being wounded and when and where?

The SWB roll is at the National Archives at Kew and is not available online. It will not tell you when he was wounded or fell sick, but it should give you his Battalion and possibly confirm his age.

If your man's service or pension record survives then they will also be available at Kew and also online via Ancestry subscription. [Only c. 40% survive]

If you have a reasonable idea of when your man may have been wounded, then it's usually worthwhile checking the local paper of where your man came from. The British Museum Newspaper Library at Colindale in North London will have copies - so should any fair sized local library in the home area.

Also worth looking here for some basic information: http://www.1914-1918.net/

Hi, jds1949
As I am not likely to get to Kew, it looks like a trip to the library and a try on Anc****y. I'll start with that and see where it leads. Thanks for your suggestions and the site reference.
Many thanks.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay. A check on Ance***y proved fruitless. Must presume that what I am looking for
is part of the documents that were destroyed. Thanks for your help

Bob

On that page - SWB List TG/118 - only one man discharged through wounds, the remainder were discharged through 'sickness'.

The page has 12 names.  What is your man's name?  :)
Reid: Nicol: Peterhead and Aberdeen
McDonald: Greig: Milne: Aberdeenshire
Moreland: Lanarkshire, Whitehaven in Cumbria and Ireland
Cunningham: Lanarkshire, Cumbria and Ireland
Halliday: Falkirk, Stirlingshire and Ireland
Redpath: Stirlingshire and Banbridge
