Transported pickpocket
« on: Thursday 23 September 10 03:32 BST (UK) »
HI,
I know I have come in a bit late to this conversation, but I have only just found out that my Great Great Grandfather was a pickpocket.  This is totally against all the family folklore I have believed for the last 50 years.  Anyway, any information would be appreciated.  All I know is what I have from the convict records.  He was given a Condidtional Pardon in 1841 and married Ann Brimmer in 1839.  My GGrandmother was Rosina Pedder.  I was named after her.  This is amazing.  If my mother new this information she would not believe it.

Thank You

Hi rrpowell  :)

Welcome to Rootschat  :D

I've moved your message to a thread of its own on the Australia board, where it will receive the appropriate attention.

From the information you've given, I assume that your g-g-grandfather is Joseph PEDDER who was transported to Tasmania in 1830.   Have you all his convict records and the information from the Colonial Tasmanian Family Links database about his children with Ann?

What further information were you hoping to find out?

Cheers
Prue

Hi,

Was he the Joseph Pedder that was transported to Tasmania in 1830 on the Southworth?

Sorry, double up on what Prue had asked.

Gerry

I think rrpowell may be my 1st cousin, a double cousin in fact... I don't have contact with her but have 2 of her siblings on FB so could let you know how to contact her.
I have also been doing research on my Taylor/Marshall family, if there is anything I can help you with just let me know.
