Catherine's place of birth following her marriage for the two censuses up to her death in 1890 jump about a bit  :-\

1871 b. Barrol, Ireland - RG10; Piece: 5367; Folio: 92; Page: 12
1881 b. Berwick on Tweed - RG11; Piece: 5276; Folio: 31; Page: 18

Monica

Added: You say Catherine died in 1890? She is on the 1891 census showing as born on Berwick on Tweed - RG12; Piece: 4399; Folio 115; Page 16

Appreciated Monica,

I have all details from Catherine's marriage onwards, regarding Barrol Ireland bit doubtful there, but have been working on that one but not making any progress there but still searching hoping something may turn up.

Not sure if Catherine's birth is to be found. The Scottish Old Parish Registers were for the established Church of Scotland, ie. presbyterian. The family may have belonged to a different denomination. Other things that can affect records are that registers over the years have been lost or destroyed, parents didn't register births (it cost money!) etc.

It would be nice for you to have at least a complete set of censuses for Catherine, but I am completely stumped on the 1861 census entry!

Have you managed to establish Isabella's, mother, maiden name? I only ask because, probably not connected at all as it is in the wrong area, but there is a Roman Catholic birth/christening (31/08/1845 and 27/10/1845) for a Catherine Ward, father Charles and mother Isabella McConnnel but in Glasgow. Catherine showed as born c. 1845 in 1851.
