William Carson, Ballyshannon, Donegal

Hi All,
     My great grandfather was William Carson, born 1864 in Ballyshannon, was married to a Anne Ellis in 1884 in Bundoran, Donegal. On the marriage certificate, it states William's father as William Carson, A Constable. I have checked the RIC records in Northern Ireland, and they have no records matching my William Carson.

Does anyone have any clues, as to what other roles a Constable may Have performed in those days.

Donegal isn't part of Northern Ireland but is part of Ulster.

IGI has a possible birth- William Carson born 26 July 1864 Ballyshannon district (page 3 in civil index), son of William Carson and Mary Ann O'Donnell.

   yes this is my William Carson, and these are the exact records that I have found. It is William's father also called William, who states on the marriage certificate that his occupation was a Constable, which I am unable to find any records of.

Ballyshannon is in the parish of Innishacsaint part of which is also in County Fermanagh so you might find some records in Fermanagh
