Finsbury Terrace
« on: Thursday 23 September 10 16:11 BST (UK) »
In the mid 19th C. an ancestor ran a hairdressing/perfumer business at Finsbury Terrace. Can anyone tell me exactly where this was? I think it was somewhere on City Road. Is it still there? Are there any maps which show it?
Thank you

Many thanks Jennifer for going to the trouble of searching and for your helpful reply. My ancestor was Thomas Mellish and he lived at no 11 but rather earlier than I thought. It was in the 1820s. I didn't know Finsbury Terrace was beside the Angel.

A little bit of googling makes me wonder if Finsbury Terrace could be where Wetherspoons Angel is now. The original Angel (on the corner) underwent a couple of reworkings in the 19th century but I haven't discovered if the rest of the block was also changed. I guess it was, but it looks likely that my ancestor ran his business somewhere along this section of road. If anyone has any more information please do post it here.
Thanks
