Hi,
I decend from a John Wernham born 1801 Snelsmore his parents were John Wernham and Elizabeth. He married Eliza Darling in 1822 In Chievley. Had 8 Children and he died in 1876 in the Newbury union workhouse. I would love to find out more about his parents and if he had any siblings.

Hi
I'm a Wernham.  My brother and Father were John Wernham.  Sadly Dad died some 20 years ago but my brother is still with us and neither of us have had children so we are the 'end of the line'.

I met with someone several years ago who had traced the whole Wernham family tree back to the 1700's in Chievely where they were Yeoman farmers who owned land and I have a copy of a land deed containing a deal with the local vicar!  I will try and find his contact details and post on site.  He had a whole room full of filing cabinets containing all the details of the Wernhams.  However, over the years the name has been spelt in different ways : Wenham, Wornham etc.  Interested to hear from anyone who has any recent information - Hazel

Hi Hazel

Sorry for the delay in replying to your post.   I too am a Wernham and the last of my line - which also comes from Chieveley.   My father was Richard BRUCE Wernham and my grandfather and g grandfather were both Richard Wernham.   I have my tree back to the 1700's also and would love to know where you fit in.

Hi Hazel

I would like to send you a personal message, but I think you have to post once more before I can do this.

Hope your move goes well - a very traumatic time usually, but not for you hopefully!

Best wishes,

Joan

Hi Joan
Am not familiar with the system so will be guided by you.  Am off tomorrow and all weekend so would love to hear from you. My brother who lives in Norfolk is also very interested in our family tree.  I have sent him a copy of the one I have. Have just rooted out my piece of paper and it shows:
Your great grandfather was my grandfather's father - his name was Ernest John Wernham and your grandfather must have been his brother. Was he born in 1872 and died in 1937?  I have an Elizabeth Joan on my tree is that you? Would love to see a  photo as I have some old ones of both Grandfather and Great grandfather. Looking forward to hearing from you Best wishes Hazel

I'm brand new to RootsChat.  I found this thread on Google.

My  great, great Grandfather was  Joseph Daniel Wernham (of Canada) and his parents were possibly Charles Wernham and Ann Ponnegar .

Does anyone have corroborating information that Joseph was one of their sons.  If so, their ancestry?

Andy Wernham (In Pennsylvania)

Hi Andy, yes your findings do fit with our family tree although didn't realise we were connected to Canada! My brother John and I are the only children of John Wernham born 14.6.1904. Neither of us have any children so it stops here. However, we were contacted by a cousin ?3rd called Joan who lives in Wales. She has done the full family tree going back to 1612. I do have a copy and some photos. I presume she will get a copy of this email on Roots. If not I'd be happy to forward to you. Also some photos. Be lovely to add some more info from the US. Look forward to your reply. Kind regards Hazel
