Irregular marriage ..Kelso

The Dec. 16 , 1820 Newcastle Courant announces the marriage " recently at Kelso" of William Black and Elizabeth Wilson. He was a shepherd at Ewardley Shank

I think it might have been an 'irregular marriage' and wonder if anyone might have the records of such marriages in that area at that time.

I can't find these 3xgts in the Scottish records and would appreciate any help.
