Ireland Census 1911 has a John McDowell, occupation carter living in Cultra St. Belfast. In Ireland Census 1901 he was a van driver living in Lilliput St. Belfast.
This coincides with James Henry McDowell's fathers name and occupation at his marriage in Norfolk in 1918. The 1901 Ireland census lists a son Hugh aged 6 but not James Henry. Could he have changed his name for whatever reason? Can any McDowell surname seekers help? I could ask for Hugh's birth certificate if only to rule him out.
