Thanks very much for the lookup Phil,  unfortunately thats not him, I have him in Stanley Street, StHelens in 1911 with wife and kids.
Weirdly I found him home on the 1901 census also when he is supposed to be in SAfrica, maybe he was wounded? I only hope those WO97's will be of use cos this is perplexing me. :o

Gill, if you are able to confirm that he was South Lancs, and know what Battalion, let me know as I have a copy of the Regimental History, and will do any look ups you require

Thanks for that Phil, will do

Ive since bought a copy of Absent Voters and he is on there with his brother as being in the Royal Defence Corps in autumn1919, the family did say he was gassed in the first war so that would be  why. Still cant find any records, the Findmypast stuff is now complete. Looks like Ill be an unlucky one with burnt records.

Have you looked on the Pension Records seeing as he was "gassed"?
One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

Scrimnet - If by pension you mean WO97 Chelsea records, yes Ive searched with no luck. The thing is he didnt leave the army in 1913 or 18 which I think is the cut off for pensions through injury, he went on into home service.

Pete Keane - I dont think he has a middle name but yes there are even more Thomas Bebbingtons with likely Lancashire regiments. :o

MMM45 - That site is new, I know Stephen from another forum and he is  giving me some advice on searching newspapers at the library for details of my soldier. Its going to be a great resource as is his other site - Prescot Roll of Honour.

Thanks everyone for your interest, hope youll keep the name in mind and post here should you come across it. Thomas BEBBINGTON b 1871 St Helens Lancs

Can anyone pm me an email address for Stephen Nulty?    I cant use Outlook Express and there are no other contact details.

My interest in the South Lancs is primarily WW2, but like Phil I've also accrued bits of paperwork etc.

Pete, your safest bet is through the Prescot ROH website http://www.prescot-rollofhonour.info/index.html he is also a member of ww2talk, but not a regular visitor
