Hi,

Totally new here but I will give it a try. I am searching for my grandfather Edward mcGreevy who married a Margaret McKee  either in Ireland or in Durham England. Edward was born abt 1830 or according to the 1881 England Census 1846. Very frustrating.
They later left England and came and settled in Queensland Australia.
Dearly I would love to find their marriage certificate or even where they were married.

Also looking for Sarah orr who married James McGreevy in DownPatrick Ireland in1827. The Orr family is proving to be very hard to pin down.

What makes you think they married in Ireland or Durham?
Looking at the 1881 census, I would say Liverpool more likely

By the way, I've had a few Irish McGreevy's in Cumbria, and they're one of the worst for going under another variation, so if you're not getting anywhere, try other similar names - Mc Gleevy, Macgleavy, McLlevy etc - or try the odd star.

Thank you for the help, Margaret McKee  daughter of Thomas McKee and Alice McCann.

She married Edward McGreevy who was born in County Down years ranging from 1830 to 1849. I found their residence in England in Iveston, 20 West Street where he was listed as an iron worker in the 1881 England Census . Wedding date is 23 January 1876 There is a reference to a St Cuthbert's Chapel in the records as the place of marriage.

They had four children before coming to Australia , James Edward, Edward who died in Australia in 1893, Thomas Patrick and Mary. All of these children are accounted for on the passenger list of the ship Roma when it arrived in Australia in 1882.

Death records of further five children confirm her maiden name as McKee.

All  I have is that James was born about 1800  and he and Sarah had a son Patrick who married an Ellen Beatty . Ellen died in Saul and Patrick later came out to New Zealand in 1887.
Second son Nicholas who remained in Ireland.
James who married a Mary Burns
Edward was the fourth son born in 1830

Edward McGreevy or McGreevey was born in 1830 in County Down and later married Margaret McKee. Margaret's parents were Thomas McKee and Alice McCann.

I have searched but can find no record of their marriage.
