Collyer Family Tree
« on: Tuesday 28 September 10 19:10 BST (UK) »
Hi. I'm looking for the family line of my Father. He is David Robert Collyer. He has three other siblings and I believe they were born and raised in Derby. They're parents are Robert William Collyer and Eva Lilian Grinling. Robert William's parents are Thomas Snow Collyer and Ethal Collyer(I'm not too sure about this one).

I would like to know further more about the Collyer line and if ever my Grandfather and Great Grandfather has any other sibling that I might not know. I've never met any of my Grands. Does anyone here know any info?

Thanks for the help.

Edit: Here are some other information.
Robert William Collyer was born July 14th 1924 and his wife Eva Lilian was born September 29th 1920.

Robert William, was born in Kings Newton South Derby and Eva Lilian was born in Lee London SE12.

That's about all the information I know. I have a relative from the Grinling side so I have no problems with that. What I want to know is the Collyer side. My father's cousin told me that my Grandfather rarely told any stories about his side of the family, so I'm curious.

I am not from the UK so it would be hard for me to look up things that might involve looking up there.

I don't really know. But that's not his Birth month. He was born July 14th at the same year.

The BMD registrations are grouped into quarters -
Jan - March
Apr - June
July - Sept
Oct - Dec

a birth, marriage or death in the last week or two of the quarter could also show up in the next quarter

I think this could be his death registration, mistranscribed as Collver -

All 3 births should come up if you choose "Births", then type in "Collyer" where it says "surname", then type in Thwaites where it says "spouse/mother surname"

Birth -
Thomas Snow Collyer December 1896 Shardlow 7b 471

The certificate should show his mum and dad's name as well as his mum's maiden name.

This could be them in 1901, but certificates needed to confirm -

RG13/3205 Folio 9 Page 9
Kings Newton, Melbourne, Nottinghamshire

Thomas Collyer 40 Market Gardener Employer Derby Kings Newton
Jane 40 Derby Melbourne
William 13 Kings Newton
Edith 11 ar school Melbourne
Alfred 9 at school Kings Newton
Thomas 4 at school     "
Margery 10mo             "

Theres also another Collyer family on the same page, Samuel and Jane + children. Samuel is a Gardeners Labourer, maybe working for his brother?

Yeah, I think there's a big possibility that it's them considering my grandfather was born in Kings Newton. Thanks for the help. Notify me if you found more. I am also doing the same. Thanks again.
