You are so good at this. I haven't even found Ethel Thwaites. Thanks. This would also help.

regarding this one.

RG13/3205 Folio 9 Page 9
Kings Newton, Melbourne, Nottinghamshire
Thomas Collyer 40 Market Gardener Employer Derby Kings Newton
Jane 40 Derby Melbourne
William 13 Kings Newton
Edith 11 ar school Melbourne
Alfred 9 at school Kings Newton
Thomas 4 at school     "
Margery 10mo             "

I found the birth of Thomas N. Thwaites Collyer. He was born 1923 so my grandfather can't be one of them since he was born 1924. And he's not on the list. But then this one is still possible because of all the information.

Hi Burritopasta,

Using the references that Cat has given you could apply online for the certificates.  The Marriage cert could be particulary useful as it would list the fathers of both the bride and groom and their occupations.  The certificates cost £9.25 and can be ordered from outside the UK.

Thanks but as of now, I am not in the UK. And I am still a student. I highly doubt my mum would ever let me use her credit card.

Hi,

This looks like them in the 1881 census:

John Collyer/Mar/53/Boot & Shoe Maker/Kings Newton, Derbys.

Mary Collyer/Unm/24/Unemployed Housemaid/Kings Newton, Derbys.

Samuel S. Collyer/Un/17/Gardners Labourer (ND)/Kings Newton, Derbys.
Thos. William Poxon/2/Melbourne, Derby.

So John Collyer would be born 1827/8 and his wife would be born 1824/5.
