Wow, I am so pleasantly overwhelmed with all the great responses, that I do not know where to start.
My great-grandfather, "Ted" was born around 1880/81; only recently did we discover his first name was actually William. Which makes sense now since my mum recalls hearing people refer to him as "Bill" on occasion, however she forgot about that until the discovery.
The family seemed to remained in Islington/Holloway area for many years. It is strange how a large family like that did not remain in touch. Perhaps the 2 World Wars had something to do with that.
The names of the children seem correct since I have an obituary clipping (date not included since it was photocopied) that listed the chief mourners of Edward Moody Cook:
Mrs. S. Wood, Teddy Cook jr. (representing his father), Mrs. F. Whitaker, Mr. Jack Cook, Mrs. R. Stepney, Mrs. P. Wells, Mr. G. H. Cook, Mr. C. Cook, Mrs. L. Hyde.
For a long time I could not figure out any names, but from the information you all have provided, I can now make sense of the floral tributaries:
Polly and George, Florie and Arthur, Rose and Ted, Jack and Nell, Lizzie and Will, Charlie and Hetty, George and Olive, and Ted and Lou (my great-grands).
I will sit down with this information and try to get some more feedback from my mum.
