Checking freeBDM for that sort of time frame the only Edward Cook to marry in Islington was in 1877 a possible spouse Mary Ann Garbett. There is one reg. Shoreditch 1860 which could tie in with the census ages?

You would have to chance the marriage cert to prove.

Hi Heather

The John Turner at 25 Marlbro Tavern in 1871 is a GGGUncle of mine. I can`t figure out the nephew connection either. Been trying on and off for a few years an amassed loads of info on the Rassell name - some at Moscow road and 52 Lisson Grove etc.
Kind regards.

Richard

Hi Richard

That's fascinating, why did you amass info on the Rassell name?   ???  I read it as Russell on the 1871 census where our ancestors are listed in the Coffee House.  Had you found other documentation with both of their names perhaps?

I see there's a Samuel and Sarah Russell at 52 Lisson Grove in 1871 - is this who you're referring to in your post?  Do you have either the name Flight or Withers in your family tree as these are linked to the Thomas Rassell who I think may be the man in the coffee house.

So many questions!  Hope to hear more from you soon
Heather

p.s.  Hope you don't mind this little thread diversion Hoolianama - once Richard has replied a couple more times I'll pm him and take our offshoot of this thread elsewhere.   :)

Hi Heather

When I saw the 1871 Census with Thomas Rassell listing my relative as Nephew I started to research the Rassel Line as far back as I coul.It was possible that he was a nephew 2 or 3 generations apart. Oh my goodness Richard!  That's an awful lot of information, thank you for taking the trouble to type it all out!

I'm at work at the moment so can't compare with my records but a large number of the names and addresses are familiar.  There do appear to be a few that I don't recognise at the moment so will look forward to being able to check those out later.

Maybe John Turner is a nephew on Maria Carter's side?  I haven't done any research on her family at all as she's not in my direct line and I've enough to do pinning the direct ones down at the moment  :)  I'm descended from (7) George Augustus Rassell and his son Geo Aug Buttery Rassell.

Thanks again, Heather

Hoolianama please excuse me for hijacking your thread again but I have many questions I'd like to ask unclepyro and as he has only posted twice so far I can't send him a private message.

Unclepyro, please post again on this thread and then I'll be able to send you private messages to avoid having to take over Hoolianama's thread.  I've now had a chance to compare your large post last Thursday against my records and have lots of questions to ask you.

Thanks both, kind regards  Heather

Was just thinking about this thread and wondering if Unclepyro had found any more about the possible connection between our families?

Hope to hear some news soon
