COMPLETED Wilstead PR transcript - marriage LITCHFIELD
« on: Wednesday 29 September 10 15:05 BST (UK) »
An extracted entry at Wilstead shows a marriage on 12 Oct 1804 between Elizabeth NOTT and James LITCHFIELD.

Elizabeth was from Everton (Evington in 1861) and I believe James was from Elstow.

If anyone has access to Wilstead transcript I'd be grateful to know if a parish of residence is shown.

James was my 4xg great uncle, so was a close relative compared to some of my requests!

Many thanks

David

bon apres-midi...

The Wilstead marriage had no further info, other than James was a bachelor & Eliabeth was a spinster; no abodes are mentioned.

However these are the only Litchfield & Nott entries on the Wilstead parish record apart from their 4 baptised children between 1805 & 1812; one of which is a Benjamin... which is I believe the name of James's father, being baptised at Elstow 2 Feb 1783, son of Benj & Ann Litchfield, born 16 Jan. That year of birth ties in well with that of Elizabeth Knot, daughter of Francis & Mary baptised at Everton on 26 Oct 1783. Francis Knot married Mary Webb at Sutton on 30 Aug 1779.

So regardless of no direct evidence of having an abode stated at the marriage I would guess that this is your 4x gt great uncle.

Regards John

Thanks very much for checking the marriage John. I'd come to the same conclusion as you, that notwithstanding there's no parish of residence for James I'm confident that he was from Elstow. His younger brother, another Benjamin, was my 4xg grandfather who married in Southill, again with no parish of residence given. Inevitably he didn't make it to the 1851 census, but his burial age is spot on!

Thanks again

David

Susan the manager of the Celt got married this afternoon. Loads of her friends over from Ireland. Going to the reception this evening, which might be fun!
