Patrick and Mary MULCAHY
« on: Thursday 30 September 10 11:09 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Need a little help. Have traced Denis Mulcahy who died in 1911, and at one time was a publican in Gatton. His parents were Patrick and Mary Mulcahy.

I thought I had found them on the shipping records in NSW records but there is no mention of Denis.

OLDBDM has Patrick's death in 1884 , born in Ireland

Many Thanks

Hi Gerry

Thanks for the information.

Denis Mulcahy married a Bridget Green, maybe that is the Bridget mentioned.
I know Denis Mulcahy was a publican in Gatton , not sure about the Denis who was a farmer though.

So far I have only found Denis Mulcahy as a son of Patrick and Mary.
Mary's maiden name was Ryan

Again thanks

Hi, Not sure if you are still looking but Denis Mulcahy was a farmer after his marriage for a number of years before he became a publican and he bought the Tent Hill Hotel.   Denis & his wife Bridget nee Green sold the hotel and moved to Sandgate and then moved to Caboolture where Denis died in 1911.   His wife purchased another hotel in Caboolture and lived there for awhile before selling a buying a farm at Junction View which is in the Lockyer Valley & not far from Tent Hill where they had lived in the past.  The McGreevy connection comes from their daughter Winifred who married Richard Joseph McGreevy.  His parents were Edward & Margaret McGreevy nee Margaret McKee.  Denis had a sister Mary who was my great grandmother.    Poor Denis died from cirrhosis of the liver & heart failure. (He clearly enjoyed being a publican)
