Thanks for your optimism Trish.What makes this research harder is that Eliza Chamber's husband/partner James Dorman has no baptism in London that we can find and is not on the 1841 Census with a Robert Dorman who was sited as his father.We are lucky in Australia that death certificates have provision for parent's identities although they are not always known by the person giving the info.(as in Eliza's case).All we got off James's death certificate was he was born in London,his father was Robert Dorman,a gasfitter.I suspect Robert was born in Ireland as Robert and James are Celtic names and according to family folk lore we are Irish Aboriginal through the Chambers/Dorman line.
Thus we have the classic brick-wall.

Hi everyone,I just did a google search and came across this thread.  I'm a descendent of Eliza Chambers (she was my third great grandmother) and would love to know who her Indigenous mother was. Does anyone have any thoughts on how I might go about this?  Ancestry has nothing and there may very well be no information anywhere but I figure it's worth asking the question here? Thanks all :-)
