BAIKIE Family, Victoria
« on: Friday 01 October 10 00:08 BST (UK) »
Hello,
Thanks for reading this and I hope some-one can help.

I am trying to find the ship that the Baikie family arrived in Australia aboard and where they settled - it has to be between 1833 & 1838 from the information I have at present. Also any information about the Manson family in Australia.

The info I have found is as follows :
Father : James Baikie  b 1799 Orkney m 1824
Mother : Margaret
Children :
Elizabeth b 1825 Orkney
Sinclair ( female ) b 1827 Orkney - died Hawthorn, Victoria, Aust 1909.
Catherine b 1829 Orkney
Margaret b 1833 Orkney
The following children were born in Australia :
Isabella b 1838
Geirgianna b about 1838

In 1856 Sinclair married Andrew Manson ( born  Dunnet Scotland )   and her children were :
Isabella b about 1859
John Murray Manson born 1859 Maldon Victoria

Thanks in advance
Ro

Hi
A notice appeared in the Argus 12/12/1906, marking the Golden Wedding Anniversary of SINCLAIR and ANDREW.

There are details of the wedding and the item notes that both are from DUNNERT , CALTHMENTSHIRE (?), SCOTLAND.

Their current address is given as Auburn Pde Hawthorn.

Hi
Logan, I too saw the death notice relating to a son named JAMES, son of JAMES BAIKIE.

I think he is not of the same  family.
Here is the death indexing.

REG 4813 In 1898    BAIKIE,    JAMES  father JAMES mother CATHERINE  at   BOURKE

Also I read the  ARGUS notice as saying

"......loved brother of J, S, T, and L Baike......"

These several initials for several siblings do not match the names of known children to the JAMES being searched.

There seem to be a number of BAIKIE's around Newmarket, NSW
