« on: Saturday 02 October 10 12:45 BST (UK) »
Hi I'm really stuck I'm trying to find Robert & Frances Fayrer & family between 1851-1861
i cant find Robert in 1841 as i only know his fathers name no other details his father was Joseph Fayrer.
Robert & Frances (Nee Fletcher) married 1844 Tissington Derby
Frances was born 1811 in Tissington Derby.

I have Frances and her children from 1871 living in Ashbourne Derbyshire & in 1881 the Isle of white
Children-
1871-Mary Eliz b.1847 Surrey + in 1881 Born Camberwell surrey
1871 -Fanny J B.1850 Surrey + in 1881 Born Camberwell surrey

I also have a Robert Fayar b. 1846 Camberwell Surrey on the 1851 census in Derbyshire living with Mary Fletcher - (Frances Fayrer Nee Fletcher's) mum he's the son of a Clergyman so must be Roberts & Frances son I'm guessing !

I have looked again & again changing the spelling of there surname i just cant find them in 1851 or 1861.

Someone please help!!!

This is Frances in 1861 - Clergyman's Widow, born Tissington.

RG9; Piece: 2521; Folio: 41; Page: 26 Ashbourne, Church Street.

Not sure where the kids were, or who the others present are - a Niece and a Servant ....

Robert snr died in Camberell, about a year before the 1851 census, so as you found Robert Jnr with his Gran, I'd guess the girls are with Mum - somewhere ....., but none of them are using their understood PoBs in the 1851 it seems ....  :(

Frances died on 15th April 1884: Her £650 14s Will was proved June 1884, Ashbourne by her son the Rev. Robert Feyrer of 'Therfield', Southwood Lane Highgate  and Mary E Law, wife of Channell Law Esq, of 36, Outram Road, Croydon

Hi both  :)

I notice Fanny Jane's christening (24 Sep 1849) was performed by her own dad, Incumbent of Emmanuel, Camberwell.
(Also Robert 21 Sept 1845 & Mary Elizabeth 7 Apr 1847)

Here's a snippet about Robert's family

Quote
At St. Margaret's, Barking, Essex, on the 23rd instant, by the Hon. and Rev. ROBERT LIDDELL, RICHARD HENRY, eldest son of ARCHER RYLAND, Esq.,  of Camberwell, to ELLEN, eldest surviving daughter of the late Rev. JOSEPH FAYRER, Vicar of St. Teath, in this county, and sister of the late Rev. ROBERT FAYRER, Incumbent of Emmanuel, Camberwell.
(Relates to a marriage in 1851)

Googling Joseph Fayrer +St Teath should find a little more info.

Thanks for that it's been a great help.
How odd Frances uses the surname Taylor it's her for sure 100%
I wonder if they were out of the county in 1851
i hope someone might find them one day.
I can't see Robert junior or the girls  in 1861
Of what denomination where they , I don't really know much about religion terminology.

Have a look at the original 1861 image - it's Fayrer.

Googling Emmanuel Camberwell, it seems to be C of E.

Hi Kelsmell
I've just found your post and read it with great interest. My mum was a Fayrer and I haven't come across anyone researching them up until now.
I can't answer your original question but I have a list of (what I thought were) all the Fayrer marriages between 1840 and 1984.  However this list does not have the marriage of Robert and Frances in 1844, which is rather disappointing. I was given this list plus other Fayrer documents via my mother by a Dr Fayrer who lived in the Channel Islands, do you know of him?
I have noted a few other points which I will have to look up in my records eg: I'm sure the name Mary E Law and Channell Law ring a bell, as did the word Outram.(as in Outram Road, Croydon)  I see that there is a James Outram Spens Fayrer married in Kensington in September Qtr 1892.  possibly no connection.
I'm going off to rummage, although these are not my direct line.  :)

Kate.

Hi Kelsmells
Do you have marriage details for Fanny/Fannie (1874) Mary Elizabeth (1880) and Robert (1883)?
