Victorian Government Gazette Feb 23rd 1877 p391

A Sarah Howling had an application to lease 80 acres at Lynchfield approved  as of 1st March 1877

Lynchfield was I think near Ballarat.

I can't thank every one of you enough; this has been the most amazing experience for me.

I shall be researching everything you have pointed me towards tomorrow.  My poor brain has been severely stretched, with what it took to finally track down Richard and Sarah.

I am presuming you are all in Oz - as am I - and I am definitely a morning person, so I shall approach all of this with a fresh mind in the morning!

Thank you all again - you have been unbelievable!

cheers

Angela

Angela how else may we help you?

We still need to find Richard's passenger record.

Cheers

Sorry - don't know how to drive this very well - if at all!!  I am not sure where I find the resources,  Forgive my ignorance.  Can someone please spell it out for me - exactly how I access them?

cheers

Thank you for this, Sue.  I had seen something similar, handwritten, on the LDS beta site yesterday, which is what set me off on this incredible journey of discovery!

The LDS records stated that the young children were the grandchildren of Richard and Sarah, which of course must be true as they had the middle name of Emmerson - Sarah's maiden name.

I am not sure where everyone is accessing their info - the shipping records for instance.  Sorry I am being so thick!  I have only dealt with UK records up until now - and thought I knew what I was doing!

cheers

There is a lot of HOWLING info on the Vic indexes for the period.  Will type them up later if someone else doesn't transcribe beforehand.  There is a bit on the message I linked in my first reply.

Hi Angela

There are many sources of information available to the Australian searcher.

Many are readily accessible and if you follow Cando's advice and go to the "Australian Resources" heading at the top of the Aust. Board, you will find your way easily to  a great selection, including some shipping.

Searchers often give a link with their information posting. You can start a Favourites list of these for later use :D

Some resources are of a more "individual nature" perhaps from subscription websites or privately held indexes etc.
