Jemima Selina Ford
« on: Sunday 03 October 10 16:58 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I'm hunting Jemima Selina Ford.  I suspect that she is hiding somewhere in the East End.
She could be calling herself Selina Jemima, or Selina or Jemima.  She was born in 1844 in the St George in the East/Stepney/Whitechapel area.  I am fairly certain that she died in 1892 although that entry gives an age of 39 when My Jemima would be 49ish.  So there might be two of them lurking around about.
Ford is her maiden name and I am under the impression that she never married.
The Ford family were fairly relaxed when it came to giving info to the census, especially when it came to place of birth so she may have said any old place that came to mind!  ;)
I just cannot find her but I wonder if any of you can?  ???
Thanks and bye for now

Ok, so she isn't in baptisms, not transcribed on freebmd births and we know nothing about her parents or siblings.

What's your source(s), who are her family and when & where DO they appear?

Kirk,
I reckon the Selina Ford died aged 39 in 1892 = c1843  is your lady and the birthref given is correct.

Sophia first married Sprage Hindmarsh on the 2.5.1836 her surname was BEARD.
Sprage Hindmarsh died aged 41 in Stepney and was buried 24.10.1854.
His baptism records born 29.10.1813, baptised 29.10.1817 His parents were John (shipwright) and Margaret.

wow!
After reading these replies I see that I got carried away and didn't put the vitals in!  :-[
so I guess I am like Jemima my 2 x great aunt!

Jemima is the daughters and Sanders and Ruth aka Ann Ford.
I did find her in 1861
That Selina Ford in 1891 looks interesting - I think that the 1892 death is mine but a spelling error and should 49 not 39 but then I may be projected my wants upon what is reality!  I guess only getting the certificate will confirm it unless there is a burial out there somewhere...
I wonder where she is in 1871 and 1881?  Perhaps she died young...

Thanks again and sorry for my embarrassing forgetfulness!
