can anyone help me decipher the address on this census. It's for Ester Williams, 1821, husband John, a tailor.

6, Boot Street, Old St Road ?

check following page for slightly more decipherable addresses, and also the Enumerators page sort of tallies.

Hi

Boot Street is still present.

Thanks. Is it off Old Street Road?
I've been looking at the address again. Could it say Boot ct (court)? I've got ancestors in court houses in Liverpool around the same date, and wonder if they existed in London too.

Apologies, I should have been more helpful.

Go east from OLD Street Station
(that's to the right to old codgers like me who are hopeless at geography)

It's Old Street now but Old Street Road then.
Turn left into Pitfield Street then first right into Boot Street.

That little block of streets are mentioned in the enumerators walk if you follow the addresses, including the walk thru to Hoxton Square

You can actually walk it in Goooogle maps, but nothing of age there now..

Hi
that's really helpful. I live in Edinburgh, and have found that lots of streets here are quite old. If you're lucky some old buildings survive.
