I have found on the National Burial Index that 2 of my relatives were buried at Welford Road Cemetery.

They are:-
Amos Green.  Burial date - Dec 1884.  Age - 47
Mary Green.  Burial date - 22 Sep 1885.  Age - 38

I would be very grateful if anyone can help me find their graves.

Thanks,
Kera.

Welford Road Cemetery has an active friends group and a new-ish visitor centre. The volunteers at the visitor centre have a full record of all burials there, including maps and they are a very helpful bunch. If they have enough staff available they'll even take you to where the grave is. Website here: http://www.fowrcl.org.uk/

However ... as with a lot of older cemeteries, many gravestones and memorials have had to be repositioned or removed completely for health and safety reasons. We went last year to find that my husband's family's small memorial stone had been moved to an adjacent grave and another had disappeared completely.

Nevertheless it's worth visiting for its own sake. Lots of wildlife and some of the 'occupants' have fascinating stories.

I have ancestors in this cemetery and I was able to find their plot by visiting. We assume that we will find a headstone but forget that many families just could not afford one. I spoke to the cemetery workers, they have a hut ( do not go to the house, it is privately owned and nothing to do with the cemetery) where there is a large filing cabinet with files of burials in alphabetical order and the plot number.  You could also visit Oadby records office where this information is held.
