Hi
I am trying to trace Peter Barker b.1788 he was originally born in Idle or Otley Yorkshire England & then moved to Hull he left his wife & family & moved to Southern state near Cincinatti in America, his last child was born 1818 in Hull, not sure what year he left UK. I am hoping he may be listed on US census.
Any help gratefully received.

The census will not have his age or place of birth prior to 1850.  This makes it difficult to narrow down the person you want prior.

There are quite a few Peter Barkers in the US in the 1820-40 census in the US. 

You might want to look for an immigration record to find more information on him.

Hi Nutkin
Thank you this is my  first ancestor who has moved country & I appreciate your help.
 I looked at ship lists but so far I haven't found any trace of him. I think with it being so early that I am going to have trouble proving that the familes I have found in Hull belong to my Otley Barker's but I will keep looking!
