Marriage of William Stephenson
« on: Monday 11 October 10 15:07 BST (UK) »
Hi

I'm hoping to find details of the marriage of my GGG Grandparents William Stephenson and Elizabeth Wynn. Apparently, they were married in 1828 in Sussex. I'm not sure why they would be married in Sussex as Elizabeth was from Wonersh, Surrey, and William was from Yorkshire.

Thanks,

Lesley

Hi Jan,

Thanks very much for that.

Do you happen to know if parish records would have listed father's name or witnesses at that time?

I'm not sure, but now you know where it was, there may be someone on here who has access to them and can look it up for you.

Thought this might have helped , but Broadwater records start at 1846 for marriages.  :'(

Marriage at St Mary's Church, Broadwater. Both bride and groom have their abode recorded as Broadwater. Witnesses were Helen Broom & William Hedges. No parents named; this was often the case at the time.

The marriage entry is transcribed here:

(PS I think it's Barrie of the above link who is the OPC for Broadwater.)
