« on: Friday 08 April 05 15:17 BST (UK) »
hello,
could anyone please help me locate any information about a George Woods, when he died in 1926 he was listed as sgt retired cheshire regiment.  family gossip was that he was the last soldier to have a military funeral in chester, however after contacting the regimental museum i am still unable to obtain any information.  any help would be greatfully received
thanks

Hello Carol
Have you tried contacting or visiting the Chester & Cheshire Archives(in Chester)or the main library. There might be a report of his death or funeral in a newspaper. Its worth a try. I am myself waiting for the estimate for photocopy of an article from a newspaper for 1931 from a different source. I cant put my hand on the email address for the archives at the moment. You can find them on the net though. Good Luck
