1841 Census St Leonards, Shoreditch
« on: Friday 08 April 05 15:20 BST (UK) »

Can anybody see this family, either together or part of them

Parents:  Robert and Sarah Crane.  Nothing known, except they married in 1810.

Children:

Mary Ann Crane b. 1814
Sarah Crane b. 1819
Alice Crane b. 1820
Henry Crane b. 1822

I know the females may be married by 1841, but my particular interest is Henry, and his parents, Robert and Sarah.  He doesn't marry until 1843 and he remains in St Leonards, Shoreditch.  He is probably a Cow Keeper - if it helps.

Many thanks

KA

Did you have Henry for 51? I found him in St Leonards a cow keeper, but he was 38,his wife was 30 wondered if the enumerater put the ages in the wrong boxes.

Barbara and KennyB,

Still don't have parents Robert and Sarah Crane.  Think I have Henry in Ivy Lane for 1841, but he is with a Robert and Mary Randall, so doesn't help me much with parents.

I have Henry Crane for 1851.  Correct with the cow keeper.

Ivy Lane and Canal Road are predominant for the Crane family.

Also looking for Rebecca Tamworth.  She is in Canal Road in 1843.

Hi Ka,I found a Sarah Crane 65 in whitechaple, living with son Robert and his family. she is down as married, and as a Greenwich Pensioners Wife, does that make any sense to you?He is a Iron Foundry labourer.

KenB,

I've never found Robert and Sarah on anything concrete.  I know they are there - but I just can't get at 'em. Robert is on his son's marriage cert as Milkman.  But we all know how accurate they can be ;D

Can you give me details of the one you have found and I'll do a bit of research into the son Robert to see if he leads me anywhere.  I'm unsure of what a Greenwich Pensioner is.  Similar to Chelsea Pensioner do you think.

Robert Crane and Sarah Sykes were my 4th great grandparents. Did you have any luck finding any more information?
