hi, don`t remember if i asked this question before , i was wondering if anyone could give me the lowdown on the military foot police in ww1,i understand my  grandad  served in egypt in the foot police  7th div living in hope pete.

Found his card..theatre 2a Serbia,Bulgaria Turkey Greek Macedonia was his first entry.
Also served Welsh Regiment from whom he transferred to MFP.

thanks again ady,not quite sure what it all means ,kicked off with  a welsh reg, then transfers to mfp, and visited these countries during his service

After some number crunching with casualties i think he originally joined the 8th Batt Welsh Regiment and saw service in Dardanelles Theatre.
He then transferred over to MFP.
Very difficult to track withy them...where did you get the 7th Div info?

Entry to Theatre dates tie in with 8th Batt June 1915 departed UK shores.

hi ady, i got the 7th div bit from a  web site called burnley in the great war by andrew gill in the roll of honour men who survived. sorry but can`t do that link stuff. pete

Yes had a look he may have got that off the Absent Voters Lists?
7th Div spent the latter part of war in Italy does that ring any bells?
The 8th Batt Welsh Regiment were Divisional Pioneers which would tie in nicely with his mining skills.
