Thank you all so much, Now we just need to try and prove that Charles is Marys son too...

Will have to try to contact local archive o see if they could help...

It does sound likely that they are connected though...

Me again,

A couple more references which might help to throw some light on all of this:

2 maintenance orders
1.George Monn of Westfield, labourer, father of a son born to Mary Hyder at the poor house on 04.01.1820
ref:PAR253/34/2/20 dated 08.02.1820

2. Charles Fletcher of Brede, cooper for a boy born to Mary Hyder
ref:PAR253/34/3/31 dated 13.03.1821

Warrant to Arrest
James Reynolds of Rye, mariner, the putative father of a boy born to Mary Hider on 24.03.1830 at the house of Stephen Gibbs
ref:PAR253/34/2/35 dated 08.06.1830

These references all refer to documents held at ESRO which may give more details and help to discover if this is the right family.
Regards,
Lesley

Ok... I think i may have found something!.. I think after checking the census and death records, My Charles may have been born 1834 ish...

I searched the 1841 census for Charles Hyder, And right age right area,  Living with a brother called William, Aged 11.. And possibly his mother and stepfather,
Mary Renold aged 40, which would fit with Mary Hyder Welfare born 1801...

Do you think this is correct?.. Could we find out if Mary married John Renold?...

Thank you all again... Its all very exciting to think i may have a link.. Mary sounds like a .... erm... how can i put it politely.... erm... a fun girl!!

Oh Gosh i have just read L's comment about James Reynolds!...

What you think?... Do you think this is my Mary??

Re:William Hyder

There is a baptism  at Rye St Mary 29.01.1833 for William, son of Mary Hyder, which would fit.
Unfortunately I have misplace my SMI disc so hopefully some-one else will be able to answer the question of Mary's marriage.

Thanks Lesley,

Are Maintenance orders common?... Is there other info you could find on them?..
Can i get a copy or does it not contain any other info that might help?..

Im thinking that this Mary Hyder Welfare is my girl...
She seems to have married John/Henry Reynolds, Before 1841, and stayed married to him and had another son,
I just need to find her marriage...
Have you any other info on Mary or Sarah??..
Do we know if Sarah had any other children or married?...
Thank you so much for this... and just think, we could be distantly connected now!!

Glad  to know that you have found that. Have you found the family in 1851 under Reynolds?

It does look as though you have the right family , and it's good to see that Mary did eventually settle down!

I'm not sure what information the maintenance orders would have other than saying how much the fathers were ordered to pay, but I haven't actually seen one during my research.

Yes, it does look as though our families are distantly connected so I can now add some of the info I found!

Best wishes,
Lesley
