Hi Sylvia,

The only thing I can think of for "NGL" would be a "L"ane than had a long name that the clerk couldn't be bothered writing out - I notice that a few people on the same pages as your fellow have the same notation.  Possibly "New Gravel Lane" - it features in a list of old London streets as being in St Paul's Shadwell (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/hitch/gendocs/lonstr_n.html).  Not sure if it was in existence in 1760 but I'm sure someone else will know.

try the surname as natrass and the letters NCL (for Newcastle) as that surname is prevalent in that region.
