Asked an old man today but he couldn't remember either name.
He confirmed there were only the Jackson's and Palmer's fishmongers in Maryport back then.

You sure they weren't fishermen?

Perhaps!  But his occupation throughout his life was a fish curer, but he may have taken other work to tide him over....
