I think the brother William referred to is probably William Merriman


However Ezekiel (snr) and "wife" Elizabeth have an 8 year old son William with them in 1901 -which would give a birth year 1892/1893

but

Thomas Duro and Elizabeth have a son William age 7 with them in 1901 This would give a birth year 1893/4

all b Ilkeston

William Duro b.c. 1893 dies in Sept qtr 1901

and there only seems to be 1 birth reg for William Duro about that time

No marriage has been found for Ezekeil and Elizabeth so would their William be registered in Elizabeth's maiden name?

The birth cert would clarify parents

the merriman side is right my step dad  says his dad had a half brother william half sisters amy and madaline the prob is is the william a duro or a merriman we were thinking william if a duro was from ezekiel and elizabeth if that so he was about 14 years old than his half brother ezekiel if its william merriman then only 7

It looks like Ezekiel had a half brother William Merriman (possibly his full name was Robert William Merriman?) - they had same mothers (Sarah) -different fathers

Ezekiel also had a half brother William Duro -same father's , different mothers

As we haven't found a marriage for Ezekiel Duro and Elizabeth (parents of William Duro b.c.1893) wondered if Wiliam was registered in Elizabeth's surname(whatever that was)
There is a birth reg 1893 for William Duro -but there is another Willliam Duro of a similar age b.Ilkeston to parents Thomas and Elizabeth.
So  we don't know which parents the William Duro birth reg 1893 belongs to.

Just to complicate matters there is  death reg Sept qtr 1901 for William Duro b c. 1893
So we don't know whose child died either.

I cannot find a suitable William Duro in 1911 census index -so that doesn't help either.

There were other Merriman half siblings to Ezekiel - I'll try to list them
