Help
« on: Friday 29 October 10 00:49 BST (UK) »
I have recently discovered my g grandfather died in South Wales I have no idea on how to go about finding a possible record for it,  His name was Robert Breeze and he died between 1851 and 1866.
He was in Lincolnshire, england in the 1851 census and had died by the time his daughter married in Norfok in 1866
Any help would be much appreciated.

Freebmd has no death in Wales during that period.  Where did you get the info from that he died there rather than England

www.freebmd.org.uk

Is he on the 1861 census?  You haven't given any details as to his birthyear/birthplace.  Is he the entry b 1801 Doncaster - wife Maria

If that's the right 1851 entry - Maria is a widow living in Dursley Gloucester in 1861 so Robert died between 1851-1861

The GRO index for that period does not show ages so it may be difficult to pinpoint the right entry

Thank  you for replying to my post. You have the right couple. In my research I came across an announcment in the paper fcr the marriage of his daughter saying her father was the late Rev Robert Breeze of South Wales. I took this to mean he had died there.

Hello :)

this looks like the same family?

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,5628.0.html

if Maria was in Gloucestershire in 1861, perhaps they had lived for a time in South Wales, maybe Monmouthshire which is not that far away  :-\

There aren't many deaths in freebmd for the Lincolnshire and Norfolk areas, and none in Gloucestershire or Wales, so you could contact the local register offices and ask them to search 1851-61 for the death of a minister Robert Breeze born around 1801 with wife Maria. You may be lucky  :D

Best wishes
Morgan

Hi

According to The Bury and Norwich Post, and Suffolk Herald (Bury Saint Edmunds, England), Wednesday, July 23, 1856; the Rev Robert Breeze of Cardigan, South Wales died on the 16th July 1856 suddenly in this city (referring to Norwich) in his 56th year. There is a death registered in Sept Qtr 1856 Norwich Registration District Vol 4b Page 74 that matches.

Andy
