Trinidad: Bland death 1830s?
« on: Friday 29 October 10 18:41 BST (UK) »
My gt gt grandfather, William BLAND, millwright, went from Yorkshire, UK, to seek his fortune in Trinidad some time not long after 1820.  Letters home stated that he made the money he went for, died of Yellow Fever and was buried the same day.  His secretary/business partner, John Clark, made off with all the money!  There are no dates given & the letters have now disappeared!

The earliest document I have is his marriage in Otley, Yorkshire in 1816, but no father is given in pre-1837 marriages so I cannot get back beyond this date & cannot identify his father (who was possibly called William or John).

Any help or suggestions gratefully received!
