SLIP family - Bath
« on: Saturday 30 October 10 19:42 BST (UK) »
William Slip b/c1898 and Phoebe b/c1797 have children Daniel, Edward, Sarah, John and Elizabeth ( aka Betsy ).  Phoebe was born in Newton, all others born in Bath. My interest is Daniel Slip b/1823 d/1854 who married Jane Chesterman .... they had daughter Phoebe Slip b/1845 Bath.  Phoebe Slip married Henry Cruttwell Perkins in 1869.  Their daughter Eleanor Louise Perkins b/c1796 is my Paternal Grand Mother.  Have found two "trees" on Ancestry.com who also have William and Phoebe Slip.  Looking for any other connections. Thanks.......Bob.

Hi Bob,

A Slip family from Bath was discussed her a few weeks ago. You probably won't have noticed as the thread title was 'Priscilla Sarah BIRD or BRIDGMAN'
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,487754.0.html

However those Slips seem to not be closely connected to yours. They include a William Slip (or Sleep) born at Langridge in 1803, but he is definitely not your ancestor as he can be seen separately in the Bath 1851 census (in the Workhouse).

FreeREG does not yet cover Walcot 1780-1800, so I imagine that is where your William was baptised. It does have the Walcot marriages, showing he married Phoebe Cottle there in 1817.

(Walcot is part of Bath, Langridge a small village a couple of miles away.)

David
