Alton marriage help please

Ive got an Elizabeth Cherryman who married a Frederick Watts in Alton, Hampshire in 1923.

They had a child Lucy born the same year in Alton and other children born in other counties.

What I would like to find out is the possibility that Elizabeth was married previously. I think there was a child born before the marriage. Can anyone help?

Unless somebody reading your post has a personal connection to this family - the only other way is buying a copy of the marriage cert

Freebmd shows no Cherryman marriage to an Elizabeth in Hampshire and the latest one for that combination is 1894 in Brighton

There is a 1914 Cherryman birth - mothers maiden name also Cherryman

How would I find out if she had a previous marriage and that Cherryman was not the name she was born with?

Do you know when Elizabeth was born?

I can't see an Elizabeth CHERRYMAN in the 1901 census.

The marriage cert will show whether she was a spinster or a widow when she married.  It will also show her fathers name which will be her birth surname

Found her death on the BMD she died in 1961 aged 62 in Bridgend, Wales. Also Ive tried looking for her in the 1901 and cant find anything!

I've just saw a query today on a Facebook group (South African) that was linking an Elizabeth/Ella Johnstone to a marriage to Horace Cherryman in Cape Town South Africa (circa 1913 -certificate is on FamilySearch and Ancestry). The post said they moved to Wales after this marriage. Poster was looking for Elizabeth/Ella's parents but hitting a brick wall.  A quick search throws up few trees on Ancestry with these names but very little additional information.
