I descend from the MacIntosh's of Portree, and have a document written by Alistair MacIntosh who wrote of our roots in "A MacIntosh Family from Skye". He mentions an Alex, that might be your Alex, but as you know, there are lots of Alex's in the family. He discusses this Alex in the context of being a wealthy cattle dealer from Mugeary. His document also contains an elaborate and very detailed family tree. I can email you a digital version if you like.
