1879 marriage in Ystradyfodwg

Hi

I'm looking for information on the marriage in Q3 1879 of Benjamin Harris & Emily Craze, which according to freebmd, took place in Merthyr Tydfil.

I'm particularly interested in the the name & occupation of Benjamins father, although obviously any information will be gratefully received! I'll be sending for the certificate shortly but can't wait til then!!!

Unless any local transcriptions exist for this period - you need to know which church they married in for anybody to be able to look it up in the parish records

Merthyr T was the registration district but also covered several other areas

I thought Ystradyfodwg might be small enough to only have a few churches - although I live in Cardiff my knowledge of Welsh records isn't what it should be

if the marriage took place in Ystradyfodwg in 1879, it would have been registered in Pontypridd, so looks like it was elsewhere.

Shot in the dark!
There is a William Craze born 1855 Illoyan Cornwall occ coalminer and his family
living in Wengraig Road, Ystradyfodwg, (its in Tonypandy) in  the 1881 census
Wondered if William was a relative of Emily  Harris nee Craze

There is a list of folk who married into the `Craze` Family on the Cornwall forum on Roots chat message board.

Hi all

Haven't got the marriage cert yet, but found Benjamin & his family on the 1861 Glam Census last night.

Dad was Gilbert b1822, mum was Esther b1819, elder sister Sarah (all born Pembs) & younger brother William (yep - Bill & Ben!!) born in Aberdare. Don't know the maiden name for mum yet, but have to search for dad in the 1851 Pembs Census when I can get it.

Heddwch - have to check out the references from you, thanks very much. Have the Craze line going back to 1525 in Illogan thanks to another researcher!!

<EDIT> Just checked out the Craze thread @ Cornwall and one of the contributors to that thread is the "another researcher" mentioned above! Well spotted..

On FreeBMD there is a long list of marriages registered September Qtr 1844 in Haverfordwest.
Two of the names on there are
Gilbert Harries
Esther Jenkins.

Could be your ancestors
