Bombadier sounds better than Bumboater or Pawnbroker.   ;D  Henry enlisted in the 27th Foot in Sligo and transferred to the 45th Foot, but I have few details of his service apart from being appointed Corporal in 1838 after serving in India for 11 years.

Moderator, thanks for the advice of clipping a certificate for posting.  I wasn't sure, as this was so badly written, as to whether other bits of the handwriting would help decipher what I needed.

You can post more, there's no copyright restriction on certificates, but it's best to post them in sections - posting a whole cert in one piece uses up too much space.  In cases like this, seeing more of the writing can be a great help.
