Haynes family - Peasmarsh or Scotland
« on: Wednesday 03 November 10 16:33 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for a mention of the parents of John Haynes. He was born 1807 in Peasmarsh. He became one of the initial Superintendants in the Met Police.

His mother Margaret was Scottish born 1761 but I cannot find his father. Anyone any ideas?

Many thks

Hi Jon

Regarding Margaret,it`s just where she was living at the time of her marriage.

You say she was born in Scotland. Was her Dad possibly in the Army ?

When researching Husbands line ,working back,we discovered, thanks to extra info on SMI,his 4xGreatgrandfather was from Scotland ,in the Army, and married in Eastbourne,Sussex.

Hope this helps & makes sense
Kind Regards

Omega,

Thanks that certainly makes sense, we take it for granted nowadays how we move around and settle down. Just one last question what is the SMI?

Once again thanks

cant believe we lived in peasmarsh for nearly 20 years and didnt realise any Haynes came from there .

there are no Haynes in the churchyard according to Father Christopher (vicar )

we are from Welland valley area - John Hazlewood Haynes - Great Oakley 1919- have just started to do family history

Hi
Ive got a feeling my Haynes dont originate from Peasmarsh but were just passing through John Haynes born 1807 in Peasmarsh became a Superintendant in the Met Police and lived and died in London. His mother Margaret born 1761 moved to London to live with John. She originated from Scotland (yet to chase up)
Her Husband John, as you can see from the previous posts was a widower from Peasmarsh and they did marry in Peasmarsh in 1805 but no record of his death, Yet!
Omega puts a different spin on the situ, suggesting the Army. Maybe he too is Scottish and died in service somewhere, hense no Haynes graves in Peasmarsh. The Napoleonic war was still going on until 1815.

Good luck with your research although short I can give you my Haynes line if you find a connection.
