Found the family in Strichen at the 1841 census if it helps.

Have forgotten to copy the details though, so will go back and get them now.

do you know you can access the 1841 for Aberdeenshire and Banffshire free on www.freecen.org.uk?

Hi Ellen,Thanks for taking the time to look.I have  come across these before as this William is "my" William's cousin.They were both born around the same time  and both of their mothers were called Isabel .Their fathers were  brothers..this William's is called John and mine is called James..all very confusing!!! ;D ;D
