Advice please, have you used www.bdwfh.com?
« on: Friday 05 November 10 09:54 GMT (UK) »
I am thinking about using Bernard D. Welchman (www.bdwfh.com) to get some documents and do some research for me. He charges £13 per hour which is quite reasonable as it includes certain copies and some travel etc. but I don’t know if he’s any good!!

Has anybody had any personal experience with Bernard? His website sounds good but I can’t see anybody online mentioning him.

Alternatively could anybody recommend a professional Devon researcher to me?

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me.

Emma

Devon Family History Society at their admin office Tree House at Exeter can provide a list of researchers. Alternatively AGRA the professional collect of researchers will do so.

Skilton [Hooe, Turnchapel, Plymstock and Coxside Plymouth]
Williams [Plymstock/Oreston]
Maritime subjects inc Titanic, HMS Hardy, HMS Thetis [submarine]

Hi Alison,

Thank you for your kind offer. I don’t want to take advantage of you as we have a few things we need but it is very nice of you to offer.

I have looked at various lists and I found a few researchers but I would really like to hear fro somebody who has used a Devon researcher.

Emma

Hi,

Thank you all for your help, I found somebody in Somerset who was able to do the research in the end.

Thanks again,

Emma

Hi Emma.

I was looking up Bernard Welchman and came across your request, albeit a bit old.  Just to let you know I used Bernard a long time ago for my Somerset research and he was brilliant.  He did a lot of work for me.  Hope this helps but you may be sorted by now.
