boats and engines, Hull
« on: Sunday 07 November 10 09:43 GMT (UK) »
Amongst all the ordinary names in the Holmes family in 19th century Hull is a daughter Florrainea (1889). The men of the family are all boilermakers and engineers. Has anyone come across a boat or an engine called Florrainea that would account for this flight of fancy?

I've just done a search on AIS which shows where ships are and their details such as type of ship etc but there is no such ship.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Robyn.
Have you any ideas about tracking down fishing boats and their crews from Hull and earlier from Brixham?

Never come across a Hull boat with this name.
Try a mail to
http://www.hulltrawler.net/

For Brixham boats try
http://www.brixhamheritage.org.uk/

Also ask your questions on the Fishing Boat forum Ships Nostalgia

http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/forumdisplay.php?f=354

To track down Crew agreements you need the Official number of the vessel concerned . Come up with the names of the vessels and I will tell you their O/N and details of how to obtain Crew Agreements.

Hi sootyjunior

I don't think the name Florrainea is the correct spelling, yes it appears on the original census, but then when looking on the following census 1901 there is no name to represent anything like it, also no child that would be 12 yr on that census either. I think it was a mistake on the enumerator.

I have found these possibles for you, you would have to obtain some certs to check out if the parents are the same as on census info. I know the Registers for Hull are not available for public viewing, also lookups are done at a cost, cheaper for one to purchase the certs.
