Baptism Certificate

Do the IOM Civil Registry provide copies of baptisms from the pre-registration era? I have a "baptism certificate" that was produced in 1937 and signed by the Vicar of Castletown of a baptism in 1874. It has more information on it than what is available on Family Search etc.

yes but why not borrow the film of the official copy of the parish regs (at any mormon FHC) from wheich General Registry derive their certs - each cert costs twice the rental cost of the film

Thanks Frances. My local LDS FHC closed down. I might wait to see if these records become available free online in the future. If I get one or two original parish records I'll want them all! The originals are so much better than the civil registry copies.

the current intention of Manx National Heritage seems to be once their iMuseum opens early next year that the indices will be free (probably on line - the IGI has a beta site with partial indices already up) but that images of the actual parish reg (not of the 1911 official copy) will be pay per view

That's good news for me Frances hopefully the images won't be too expensive on the pay per view.
