hello there
try the national archives go into wills on the home page scroll down to the bottom and click on wills after 1858 in the alphabet list click on w and from that click on wills and probate records this will give you the address to send for copies of wills

hope this helps sounds complicated but it,s not really !  ;)

If he died towards the mid/end of 1902- you may find that his will( if there was one) wasn't proved until 1903(or later) and those years may be in the probate calendar on Ancestry. ;)

Thanks for the advice, I have looked further on and no luck.  Does anyone know why just this particular year 1902 is not on ancestry ?

If you scroll down the main Index search page, under Missing Volumes, they say they are missing books for quite a few years - 1858-1860, 1863, 1868, 1873, 1876, 1877, 1883, 1888, 1899-1903 and 1910-1911.

They hope to add the records as soon as possible.

Why not just send off to the Probate Office in York for a copy it's only £5.00.
