TURNBULL and WILSONE 17th century
« on: Tuesday 09 November 10 16:07 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help us in the search for the parents of
James Turnbull (b 1615?) and his wife Agnes Wilsone
They had a son William Turnbull born 27 Mar 1642 at Roxburgh.
Have not yet found a wife for William - but he had 6 children 1670 to 1679
Thanks

Hi

If James was also born in Roxburgh, unfortunately Roxburgh records only begin in 1624.

There are three William TURNBULLs christened at Roxburgh in consecutive years:

12th May 1641 to Thomas TURNBULL and Mergarat WHYTT
27th March 1642 to James TURNBULL and Agnes WILSON
17th October 1643 to Robert TURNBULL and Mergaret SPOTTISWOODE

Are you quite certain that yours is the middle one?

Yes, Lesley, I am sure!
You have the right one - well done
William Turnbull 27th March 1642 to James TURNBULL and Agnes WILSON

Were James and Agnes born in Roxburgh?
Dunno. It says Scotland in my notes!

The 6 children of his son William were born in Jedburgh.
Jedburgh is so close to the border it may be in Northumberland if the English were, from time to time, winning the local skirmishes.
Normal times it was in Roxburghshire (or whatever it was then)
Please assume that "Roxburgh means Roxburghshire, not the town
Many thanks
