Alfred & Lydia WATKINSON - where in Herefordshire
« on: Tuesday 09 November 10 22:43 GMT (UK) »
HI All

Looking for the area that Alfred John Watkinson and wife Lydia lived out the last years of their lives in Herefordshire County

I don't have access to the Ancestry.UK so no death index etc.  but without the subscription you do get a tidbit ...  and so I think I found them but all it gives is HEREFORDSHIRE ...

So if I am correct and the deaths I found are them, Alfred died in 1972 and if it is him, he was 94 years old then when he died.  And I believe Lydia died in 1958 at the age of 80.

The couple can be found Surrey in 1911 but after that the next thing I can find is these deaths.

Anybody add more meat to this   :)

Thanks All

Thanks Heywood

So both deaths were registered as Hereford, Herefordshire?

Did it give ages at the time of death?   I am not completely sure I have the right couple but 'suspect' I have them...

Thanks  Loads Keyboard86 :D

Lydia Watkinson nee French was a sister of my G Grandfather.  He came to Canada in 1900 and presumably cut ties with his family or rather the Canadian side lost touch with those in Britain after WWI.

My G Grandfather, Lydia and the rest of his siblings were born in Hastings, Sussex.  She married and moved to outskirts of London where I found her & family on the 1911 census.  But after that I lost her until now ...

The Alfred John Watkinson does look good ... did Lydia's give a birth year?   I will perhaps order the death certificate if I am sure I have the right people.

As always, I hope to track down living relatives ...

Hi no birth date given, only:-

Death 1958 Age at death 80 (Estimated )

Her name was Lydia E Watkinson, does the middle initial tie in?

Hi again  :)

She was Lydia Elizabeth French-Watkinson so indeed the Lydia "E" is spot on as is here  year of birth being 1878 if she was estimated to be 80 when she died.

The French's lived to be old!!  Both her parents lived to be 84 and my G Grandfather 85.

On another topic, do you know if perhaps Cemeteries are transcribed online for Hereford?

Thanks again

If you do obtain the death certificates post up the exact  dates and I would be happy to lookup in our local newspaper "Hereford Times" to see if any reference to them.
Back in 70s they often printed very detailed listings of all people attending funerals and relationships to the deceased.

Thanks Dave for the offer

I am going to order Lydia's Death Registration in the New Year as I do believe it is the correct lady.

When I get it I'll certainly find you  ;)
